I see the countless Christmas trees

with tiny lights like heaven's stars

The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away that tear
for I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you
of the joy their voices bring
for it is beyond description
to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,

nathan had to do a project on gorillas in the african rainforrest. he had to build a diorama of their habitat and do a typed report. doesn't that seem like alot for second grade?

but he's finished with it. it counts for 3 grades science,composition and reading, and his teacher said he would get 100s on all the grades. he turned it in before it was due and his teacher showed the class telling them this is how these are supposed to look and other teachers showed their classes his project so they could see a good example of a diorama. that made him feel good and his was the only one that she did that with. .anyway he was so proud of how it turned out and he was really excited to do it.we had to buy alot of packs of the animals to get enough gorillas since they live in groups of atleast 5 and there was only one or two in a pack. and we couldn't use the frogs and lizards in the packs because they were as big as the gorillas and it would look silly for a frog to be the size of a gorilla.

he loves animals and learning about animals and the day he got the assignment we went to the library and he got about 15 books on gorillas an the rainforrest.i think it turned out great.i helped him type the report but he did everything.he even made bananas out of clay and glued them to trees. i think he did a wonderful job and he had so much fun doing it. i love it when he's that excited about learning if only all of his assignments had to do with animals.

anyway here's some pictures and the report. (although we had to take the ringtail lemur on the tree out because they dont live there we put in a diffrent monkey.)

Gorillas are big apes.Some people confuse monkeys with apes.Both are primates,and both have fingers and fingerprints, like humans primates fingerprints are as individual as they are.The difference between apes and monkeys are monkeys have tails and apes never have tails. Also apes are much stronger and bigger than monkeys.

Gorillas live in Africa.A long time ago people were afraid of gorillas, some even thought they ate people.Today we know they do not eat people. A gorilla eats plants,roots,stems and leaves.They also eat bark and they love fruit like bananas and berries. They sometimes will eat small insects like snails and ants. They have large strong jaws so they can eat tough roots and leaves.

Gorillas live in groups called troops. Troops can have 5 to 20 members. The leader of the troop is the large dominate male called a silverback.They are called silverbacks because as they age the hair on their backs turn grey. They are full grown when they are about 10 years old.A full grown male can weigh 500 pounds.And be as tall as a grown man although are much stronger than human men.

The silverbacks lead the troop through the rainforest to find food everyday. The silverback also protects his troops from other animals and humans. They put on a show to scare off intruders by beating on their chests and making loud hooting noises.They are really very gentle but if they have to they will fight to defend their troop.

Baby gorillas depend on their mothers for everything,much like human babies.When baby gorillas are born they weigh about 4 pounds.Baby gorillas get milk from their mothers until they're jaws are ready to eat plants and fruits. Until they are about 2 months old their mothers carry them in one arm as they walk through the rainforest. After they are 2 months old they ride on their mother's backs.They stay with her until they are about 3 or 4 years old.Like human children, young gorillas are very curious and love to play.Young gorillas like to climb on trees and vines and even the bigger gorillas.They grow until they are about 8 to 10 years old,then some of the blackbacks,grown males, will go off to start their own troops.

While gorillas can stand up,mostly they walk on all fours.It's hard for people to walk that way but easy for gorillas because their arms are much longer than their legs.

When the sun goes down the gorillas make their nests,or beds out of leaves and stems. They make new nests every night.

Even when he is resting the silverback is watching over his troop ready to protect them from danger.

Today poaching,or hunting and killing gorillas is illegal. But unfortunately that doesn't stop some bad people.

Gorillas are very intelligent and gentle and they do not wish to hurt anybody.It is very sad some people want to hurt these gentle creatures.

hey it's been alittle over a month since i posted . nathan is doing well in school he doesn't like it but he is adjusting. the thing that irritates me is the amount of homework these kids have.i feel like they are at school all day and then get home and have alot of homework. when are the supposed to be kids? i just think they give them too much and dont realize they need some time to be kids. nathan wrote this paper at school that was so cute and i loved it it said when i grow up i want to be a pitcher for the new york yankees. i want to be a pitcher for the new york yankees because i could make alot of money and be famous.thats my boy! he said pitchers because i'm always saying we need pitchers.

about 3 weeks ago he started riding his bike without training wheels. he was so proud of himself. he wasnt really wanting to learn until a week before that and then he was determined to get it. i can't believe how fast he's growing up.

hey everyone.today was nathans first day of second grade. summer defintley went by too fast. he was reallly not ready for school to start so quickly and i can't believe he's in second grade when did this happen?

today would also be dans 33rd birthday so it's been kinda a emotional day for us. we're getting through though. i found this poem i thought was really pretty. and nathan sent his message balloons like he always does it really seems to help him feel connected to his dad still.

hey i know 2 posts close together! i've been just playing with nathan the past couple of days i've been swimming and i now have the color of someone with a pulse! normaly i am more of a glowing white so it's a step up. the house i'm at doesnt have extra innings though so i'm going through a baseball withdrawl

the doctor has said that my mom cyst was 100% cancer free and she will have to get a cat scan every year with her check up just to make sure everything is ok but she wont have to do any kind of radiation or anything. she's started being able to lose some weight so she's getting excited about that and we are trying to walk alittle eery evening it's getting to where we cant sleep without walking and thats good because i really need to in shape and it helps with my restless leg syndrome.

i hope evryone is doing good and i'm sorry for eing such a terrible xanga friend. hugs me

hey everybody! I'm sorry i haen't been around alot. nathan has been out of school and keeping me busy. my mom is doing great. she feels so much better since the cyst has been removed.but the doctor hasnt cleared her for work yet so she's been ansy. i hope everyone is doing good. and i'm sorry i'm a terribe blogger.

we're babystiing/ housesitting right now and their computer is alot faster than mine so hopefully i will be able to post more.

i will post some pictures soon.

may is a month of milestones for me

it has now been 10 years since i have eatten beef or pork.

10 years ago in may i realized while in the process of moving 500 miles away to be with another man i was in love with dan.i was outside on the steps of the apartment i was going to be living at when i realized i was in love with my best friend and i could not move to oklahoma. lets just say after hauling all of my stuff from memphis to oklahoma he was not real happy with me. but he took me home. and i found out dan was in love with me too.

the 21st would have been mine and dan's 9 year anniversary.

and 8 years since i quit smoking (for good) and also the day i got pregnant with nathan

hi everybody.

my mom is doing good, she's still really sore and has to take it easy which for her is really hard. she's getting ansy and really hard to keep still. but she's starting to feel more like herself.

so far the tests are all showing up great. God really has taken care of her. if her ovary with the cyst would have ruptured she could have died. and we are so thankful that God has had his hand on her and helped us all get through this.we are so grateful that it's not cancer and we know God has really blessed our family and we appreciate all the friends and family he has blessed us with .

my mom is home now

thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes. the surgery went well. the cyst was bigger than they thought it was the size of a watermelon and they got 4 liters of fluid from it!! it was inside a ovary so it's so amazing that it had not ruptured, we know that God had his hand on her, they think it's just a ovarian cyst that had been neglected she doesnt like going to drs and it had been along time since she went to a obgyn . they pathology reports are saying it has a very low potential for malegnancy but they have done biopsies and the final results will be in soon. she got to come home today so she feels more at ease here. god bless you all and i cannot tell you how much knowing all of you were praying for her meant to me. thank you!!!
